OnInOff powered an interactive LED wall that transformed archival documents into a dynamic, evolving flow of data. Using gesture-based interaction, visitors could open and explore specific records in real time, turning archival consultation into a physical, intuitive and shared experience where the body becomes the interface between memory and information.
In the context of the International Council on Archives Congress – ICA Barcelona 2025, OnInOff had the opportunity to create an interactive installation conceived as a constantly moving flow of memory, in collaboration with Onionlab and BLOCK.
The installation took shape through a wall of interactive LEDs that presented documents from the Barcelona Archives Registry as a living system in continuous evolution. The archives unfolded as a stream of data and images in constant transformation, reflecting the dynamic nature of memory and knowledge.
Through a simple gesture with their hand, visitors could interact with this flow and open specific documents, revealing the metadata and context of each archive.
Specifically designed to convey the idea of the archive as a living organism, the installation highlighted archival practice as an essential tool for preserving collective memory, safeguarding rights, and connecting past and future through technology.
